Metal gate installation covers driveway gates, walk gates, and pedestrian access points built to match an existing or new metal fence line. Gates take more precision than straight fence runs since they need to swing or slide properly, latch securely, and hold their alignment over years of daily use, which makes gate installation a bit of a specialty within fence work even for contractors who install plenty of straight fencing.
You need this when you're adding fencing to a property and need functional access points, when an existing gate has sagged, won't latch properly, or has rusted at the hinges, or when you're upgrading a driveway entrance with a more substantial or automated gate for security and curb appeal. Gates that drag on the ground, won't stay closed, or have visibly bent hardware are showing the kind of wear that means replacement is usually smarter than another repair.
We start by confirming the gate opening width and whether it's swinging or sliding, since this determines post spacing and hardware requirements. Posts on either side of a gate opening need to be set more robustly than standard fence posts, since they carry the weight and stress of the gate swinging or sliding daily – this is one of the most common places gates fail when installed without enough attention to post strength. We hang the gate with properly sized hinges for its weight, install latching hardware, and adjust everything to swing or slide smoothly without dragging or binding. For driveway gates, we discuss whether manual or automated operation fits your needs.
Cost depends on gate width and style, whether it's a simple walk gate or a larger driveway gate, and whether automation is included. Properties in Morgan Hill, CA adding automated driveway gates typically see higher costs due to the electrical and mechanical components involved beyond the gate itself.
A gate that won't latch or swing right is a problem that gets worse, not better. Call (877) 357-2520 for an assessment.
